New Balance Men's MR890 Running Shoe, Silver/Blue, 13 D US

Product Description

New Balance presents its lightest trainer yet! Engineered from the ground up, the neutral 890 is a new kind of lightweight shoe, each part designed with purpose. Named Best Road Runners by Outside Magazine in their spring/summer Gear of the Year edition, the 890 is already a fan favorite. The full ground contact outsole is just as compatible with midfoot and forefoot strikes as it is with a traditional heel strike. Innovative diamond shapes cut in relief from the extra-durable REVlite midsole provide as much function as fashion, and the coordinating diamond motif on the outsole helps with grip and transition.

4Good shoe, but ease into it. .
By P. Lamoureux
Hello runners,I'm a 48 year old male and run 35 miles per week. I moved from a neutral cushioning New Balance 759 shoe into the 890. They are definitely light and my speed improved an average of .2 MPH, which is pretty substantial. They fit well, nice and snug in the midsection with still some room in the forefoot. True to size if you own any NB products already.Of course, that lightness comes at a cost, and that's in the form of less padding. Some doctors and running experts are now saying that less padding is actually better for you but, even if true, you might want to ease into running with these if you're weekly mileage is high. I noticed some aches and pains when I started with these and had to back off for a while.Style-wise, I'd like to add that these shoes are different than other running shoes. Specifically, the uppers are made of a thinner, simpler material and the sole seems simpler too. Hate to say it, but the construction comes off as a little "cheap" at first blush, but they feel good like I said earlier.UPDATE: I'm on my third pair of these now, and happy to say that I'm suffering less aches and pains than ever! Knee pain totally gone, don't be fooled by the thinner padding, these shoes work fine!! I'm getting 350-400 miles out of a pair, but I only weigh 160 and my running style is pretty easy on shoes overall, I'd say. Oh, and the simple upper I mention earlier stays cleaner and wipes off easier than any shoe I've owned. I plan to keep buying these as long as NB makes them. . .

4So far so good.
By Ultra-Medic
Realizing that I was a supine/neutral runner and had been running in a shoe for severe over-pronators (thanks fleet feet!) I went to my local running store and hashed it out with the staff for a bit about my gait, stride, step, etc... Well we tried a few different models and prior to today I've been in Mizuno's or Saucony's and personally love the shoe... well New Balance, for some reason I never took seriously, never had interest in wearing - until today. My foot has a high arch and is quite narrow and this shoe was a perfect match. They had designed this shoe differently than any of there products with a nod to the minimilist/forefoot striking crowd but still true to those that heel strike and require a degree of cushioning.Well day one was a 10 mile break in. I'm 6'5'', about 190-200 pounds and took it pretty easy this first day. I loved how the shoe gripped at the cement effectively. How it snugly wraps around my foot without having any pressure points, yet still gives enough room to wiggle my toes. *It could breath a little better as I did feel that my foot was a bit warmer than I'm used too but it's been a bit hotter this week as well.So compared to what I've been running in in the past... I'm very excited to see how this shoe will compliment my running. I typically love endurance events so it will interesting to see how durable this shoe is. If I remember to I'll follow up in a few weeks once I get a couple hundred miles under my belt.

5Wonderful shoe for those long runs!
By Kevin
I purchased this shoe after doing a 5 mile test run in them, courtesy of my local running store. I loved the feel and the cushioning immediately! The light weight was a definite positive too! I wanted a shoe that I could wear for race distances ranging from half marathon to marathon and I found it in this shoe. It has been a joy to wear! My legs feel fresher after long, hard runs when wearing this shoe! I love the styling and look of this shoe also! I am very happy with this shoe and would highly recommend it! Two of my long distance running friends have also purchased this shoe and are enjoying its attributes immensely!
